The AGILE ADAPT® DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION FUNDAMENTALS course teaches the fundamental principles, structure, roles, and process of an easy, iterative, digital transformation method that any business can use to accelerate their business success in the digital age, showing tangible results in as little as three months!

This qualification is aimed at individuals taking part in transformational activities in an organization at a broad scale, ensuring that they understand the importance of their participation and their role in transformational initiatives.
Individuals involved in transformational initiatives using ADapT, whether as primary, secondary, or even tertiary participants, will benefit from a more complete and holistic understanding of ADapT, as demonstrated by this qualification.
The PRIMARY target audiance for this course are:
- Organizational leaders and managers needing to transform their organization (to understand the importance of giving direction and enabling transformational success.)
- Organizational specialists who perform transformational activities (to understand transformational activities in the context of the transformational lifecycle, their role, and how their involvement enables optimal outcomes.)
- Participants in transformational activities, in general (to understand transformational activities in the context of the transformational lifecycle, their role, and how their involvement enables optimal outcomes.)
- Accredited Training Organizations and Trainers (to understand how ADapT provides a reference for organizational transformation activities and how to convey the approach to learners.)
- Transformational Coaches and Consultants that aim to assist organizations in the process of transformation, change, and continual improvement (understanding the ADapT transformational lifecycle and methods and how the approach facilitates successful organizational transformation and change.)
Although not explicitly named, product, project and IT resources are often key contributors to digital age transformational initiatives. Much of the content in the text emphasizes the importance of these functions’ contribution to successfully transforming organizations in a modern context.
Intended candidate outcomes
The candidate who meets this High-Level Performance Definition should, at minimum, be able to recall, recognize and demonstrate an understanding of the principles, process, concepts, roles, events, artifacts, and expanded guidance outlined in the course.
Specifically (s)he should be able to demonstrate this understanding in the context of:
- Helping the organization to apply and use ADapT as a transformational approach.
- Supporting and contributing key role-players in their tasks or using tools, techniques, or artifacts to achieve desired results.
- Understand their role in the transformational effort and why and how their contribution contributes towards organizational success.
- Identify the role played by the three types of professional ADapT practitioners (Strategy Lead, Innovation Lead and Build & Scale Lead), what their role is and how the candidate may become involved in the activities they lead.
The candidate’s performance will be evaluated by administering a multiple-choice examination, in which the candidate must achieve a minimum score of 20 out of 30 (66.6%)
About the course
Candidates can study for this certificate in two ways:
- Attending a course provided by an accredited trainer. Courses are usually completed in a single day, but candidates need to spend a minimum of 12 hours of study (including course participation) before attempting the exam. Accredited training can be in-person-in-class, virtual-in-class, or self-paced online.
- Self-study. Self-study resources include online learning and recommended reading, including the book Competing in a Digital Future by Johann Botha. The recommended effort a candidate need to invest in before writing the associated exam in this scenario is 24 hours of dedicated effort.
There are no specific prerequisites for entry to the examination, although we strongly recommend attending accredited training.
About the exam
The candidate’s performance will be evaluated by administering a multiple-choice examination, in which the candidate must achieve a minimum score of 20 out of 30 (66.6%)
30 minutes are allowed to complete the exam, unless the candidate take the exam in a language other than their home or business language. In this case an additional 10 minutes are allowed.
Special needs candidates need to contact ADapT or their training provider to make arrangements for examination other than the standard process described above.
Next Steps
Candidate who completed the Digital Transformation Fundamentals course and exam should be equipped to play an active role in the organization’s Digital Transformation initiatives.
Some may find that they will focus more on certain elements of the transformational journey than others and may even lead some of the initiatives.
For these candidates THREE PRACTITIONER-LEVEL courses and certication credentials are available to prepare them for their specialist role.
